About
the Nutley Oil Group and how the group works
The group was formed in late 2008 and now has some 65 members
with interest being expressed by many others. The service is
free, and is run by volunteers from the Nutley community, and
the way it works is quite simple.
Oil is ordered at intervals throughout the year and the
volunteers get together at these times to request your oil quantity
(minimum individual order 500 litres) and secure the best price
from our list of 'Oil Suppliers'. We then only have a few hours
for a volunteer to attach the group details and oil quantities
to an email and confirm the agreed price to the supplier. Things
do however again move very fast once we have agreed a price
with the oil supplier, the supplier is soon requesting payment
directly from you, normally by credit/debit card over the telephone.
It is worth saying that you should confirm your oil quantity,
any special delivery instructions and request your personal
delivery date at the time of making your payment.
Whilst oil price I am sure is very important to us all, there
is another major benefit, with 65 plus members who would have
normally ordered their oil separately, meaning potentially up
to 65 separate tankers driving into the area over many weeks,
we I am sure are now cutting this down to just possibly three
or four oil tankers over a few days.
The key to a successful membership is not to run your oil tank
down too low, because we all have to order at the same time,
and by not maintaining a reasonable level of oil may mean you
might run out before the group delivery. You don't have to order
oil every time or even order a lot. Some members on occasions
have only ordered 500 litres as a top up, keeping their tank
at a reasonable level.
The average amount of oil ordered last time was 950 litres per
member and we paid 33.6p per litre.
Minimum
order of 500 litres.
Once you have submitted your intended order to us you will be
contacted by the Nutley Oil Group Chosen Supplier - so here
to help you is our suggested 'Ordering Checklist' for when the
oil supplier phones you:
| 1 |
Confirm the quantity you have
ordered |
| 2 |
Tell them of any special delivery
arrangements you have (gates etc). |
| 3 |
Use your credit card/debit
card |
| 4 |
Confirm your address and postcode |
| 5 |
Ask for a delivery date. |
| |
If the oil supplier has not contacted you within 48 hrs
of us informing you and providing the oil supplier order
details - please contact the supplier direct, they will
have your details in front of them, as these would have
been submitted to them at the time of the order. This would
make sure you have not been missed by the supplier sales
people!
